Workshop Announcement!

May 4th & 5th  (8:30am-6pm*)
*depending on what time we wrap up.

Two days of intensive learning and growth during which we’ll focus on bringing your wedding photography business to the next level.

Jackson Studios
Danvers, MA  01923

What will be covered?

Day 1 –

After some local coffee and introductions, we’ll dive right into a classroom-style discussion about all things related to building a stronger brand and positioning yourself to attract the type of clients you want.  Topics will include (but aren’t limited to): websites, portfolios, blogging, networking, pricing, client meetings and negotiation.

After a working lunch* we’ll head to an outdoor location (weather permitting**) for a portrait shoot where we’ll have the chance to work through concepts of lighting, composition, lens selection, and posing (especially how to work with clients to create more natural looking portraits).

Day 2 –

We’ll begin the second day back in the studio with a discussion about workflow and editing.  We’ll take a look at our portrait session from the previous day and discuss some of the successes and failures. I’ll walk you through my editing process and how it relates to my brand and target clients.

The second half of day two will be devoted completely to lighting.  We’ll begin by exploring on-camera flash.  I’ll walk you through some common scenarios we all face at weddings and explain how I handle these situations.  Then we’ll start to tackle off-camera lighting.  We’ll examine how to use speed lights to add depth to your pictures, give you added flexibility and get you closer to your vision.  Finally, we’ll do a basic introduction to bigger modifiers and larger lights to help you build your bag of tricks and give you more options on the wedding day.

* Lunch will be provided

** In the event that weather is lousy, we will stay in the studio for the shoot

Why Ned?

Great question!  I am a working photographer who doesn’t sell workshops for a living.  I have been shooting weddings and gaining business and technical experience for over 11 years.  However, I’m also an educator.  I was a high school teacher for six years and have a Masters degree in Education.  I love my job but I miss the classroom.  This puts me in a unique spot to be able to share my experiences and hopefully help people looking to step up their game.  I have been a speaker at the Inspire Workshops, Pictage’s PartnerCon, a featured contributor to Pictage’s PhotoLife Blog and hosted webinars for Pinhole Pro.  I also like to laugh and think the best learning happens when you are engaged and enjoying yourself.

How much?

$750  Participation will be limited to 10 awesome people!
Payments will be split into 2 – a $325 deposit to secure your spot and a second final payment due before the start of the workshop.
