Whitney and Matt – A Harvard Club Wedding

So by now you’ve probably noticed the blog has fallen silent for a few days (*cough* weeks, *double cough* months).  Yeah… I know.  What that simply means is that I was out photographing some of the most fun and fantastic weddings this fall.  Busy is good.  Hopefully you’ll forgive my absence!?  I’ve got so many fun, beautiful and hysterical moments to share with you – so stay tuned, because over the next few weeks… it’s catch up time.

Now… on to Whitney and Matt.

I remember thinking after our first meeting – “god I hope they hire me… they were AWESOME!”  When I think of these two – I think of a sincere love of life, and all that it brings.  Their wedding is a manifestation of all of that joy.  I really hope you enjoy these images as much as I do (and given the numbers of emails I’ve gotten from Whitney… as much as they do)! (keep ’em coming Whitney!)

Now on to the show…

I met the girls in the Harvard Club where Whitney was getting ready:

Wanna know what it looks like when a little brother sees his sister for the first time in her wedding dress?

Tying up loose ends…. (bad joke)

The little moments between the moments.

Matt and Whitney wrote notes to each other  – then communicated via couriers to read them at the same time.

Thanks to Doug Levy for grabbing the pic of Matt on the left.

A few of my favorite portraits:

The ceremony took place in Harvard’s Memorial Church.  This chair sits in the foyer to the church.

Whitney waited downstairs while the guests arrived.  I couldn’t pass up this red wall…

Another moment between the moments.  Whitney helps straighten her father’s tie… and perhaps calm some nerves for both.

Whitney only asked me to make sure I got one shot.  Now I know why:

Talk about a beautiful church:

Always one of my favorite moments of the day:

Harvard has some of the most beautiful architecture, which lends itself to stunning portraits.

Every once in a while, when I know I’m working at a particular location, I get a shot in my head instantly.  I knew I had to use the steps of the library.

We had a blast just walking around the buildings and goofing off… these two were so cute it was hard to take a bad picture.

I think this is one of Whitney & Matt’s favorites from the day:

My favorite:

From Harvard’s campus, we made the quick hop over to the Harvard Club, which is a spectacular room, in case you haven’t seen it.  These two gave an impressive first dance.

I had Doug stationed up in the balcony where he grabbed this great shot:

With a room as big as this… it’s always a trick to see how you’re going to capture the feel of the moment and the ambiance of the room…. I decided to just use the natural light during the toasts after a few quick tests.  I love the warmth, and of course this great moment.

It’s the  moments like this that make my job one of the best in the world.

A fitting kiss to end the night.

I really must insist that you watch this slideshow…  I can guarantee that it will brighten your day!  You can’t help but smile!

Whitney and Matt – thank you so much for letting me share your day.  I can’t wait to start working on the album!
