If you’ve spent any amount of time with me, you probably already know I’m part of the Jackson Five. Not THAT Jackson 5 – my Jackson five.
That’s me rocking the Smurf shirt and mandals. I’m the youngest of five boys which means I was the baby of the family… simultaneously spoiled and beat up in equal parts. I can honestly say that my personality reflects a bit of each of my brothers (for better or worse). I am extremely proud of them. It just so happens that two of my bothers are crazy good artists *I’m biased – but they’re seriously awesome* (see Daniel Jackson *grey socks* and Robert C. Jackson *tallest teenager*). Last fall my brother Bob approached me about doing some photography for a book that was being written about him. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. He wanted to juxtapose some images of him working in his studio next to his images to show a bit of his process. It’s so cool to actually see it in print now. Cool because I’m so proud of Bob and his career – and also cool because it’s one thing to see your work in a magazine – but a book is that much cooler! Bob is actually having an opening and book signing for a Boston show this Friday (April 13th) at the Arden Gallery – so if you’re looking for something to do on Friday, check it out.
Here’s a few images from my day with Bob – and a few images of the layouts in the book. Hope you enjoy! PS – if you’d like a copy of the book check Bob’s website (he’ll sign it for you!) I’ve also attached a fun video that Bob created at the bottom of the post. It’s a time lapse of him during the few weeks that it takes to complete on of his paintings. It’s a fun watch to pause it and see the different stuff going on in his studio.
Check out the time lapse of Bob painting The Feast:
Here’s a link to an extended cut that he did where he provides some voice over explanations.
