So exciting to think that my season starts in full on Saturday. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store. However, I still have a few weddings from last year that I’d be sad if I didn’t get to share! Martha and Graeme’s beautiful wedding at the Liberty Hotel is no small exception to that. I remember meeting Martha for the first time in a little coffee shop in Boston on a rainy fall day back in 2009. She was filled with so much excitement about her wedding day and I was just dying for the chance to shoot the wedding.
Fast forward nearly a year and Martha and Graeme did not disappoint! I could easily do a whole post just on their beautiful details alone – from the gorgeous dress, the letterpress invitations, amazing shoes, and the antique key table cards that were hand lettered (not to mention how amazingly cool the Liberty Hotel is in itself). But to be honest- the details provided a beautiful backdrop to one of the happiest and most fun parties I attended all year. Martha and Graeme were surrounded with loving friends and families who made this day unbelievably fun.
So while I have a few details below (maybe I’ll share some more later) – I pulled some of my favorite moments and I hope you enjoy!
A quick glance during the makeup session:
The shoes, a gift from Martha’s bridesmaid, were not to be missed.
The Liberty Hotel has these big giant windows (still with the bars on them) – that filled the rooms with amazing natural light.
Martha, with her hair down putting on the finishing touches:
I know I’m not the only photographer who loves veils. They add a texture to a portrait that just can’t be duplicated any other way.
I was joined by my fantastically funny and equally talented friend Shyla for the day. Shyla captured this great portrait of Graeme.
One last portrait of Martha before the first look. LOVE this one!
Graeme as he waited to see his bride for the first time.
One of my favorites from their first look.
I don’t share a lot of formal photos on my blog…. but how can you not love this group!
At the end of the ketubah signing, Graeme gently lowers Martha’s veil over her face:
Graeme and his parents making their way down the aisle.
A few favorites from the ceremony.
The cocktail hour at the Liberty takes place in the hotel’s main atrium lobby. Here I was one floor below the action.
Remember those keys I mentioned? Each place card was hand lettered and everyone had their own individual and unique key. Such a beautiful and thoughtful touch.
The Liberty miraculously flipped the ceremony room in mere minutes and transformed the space quite dramatically. Lighting was provided by Boston Uplights.
How could you not get wrapped up watching these two during their first dance?!
Graeme got up at one point to say a few words. My favorite part was his new wife’s reactions.
The couple during the roast… I mean toast.
What wedding is complete without a trip to the clouds and some fear of falling?!
Sit back and enjoy the slideshow!
