Heather & Jon

Heather and Jon maintain a special place in my heart. I remember clearly the first time Jon called me. I was in Las Vegas at the WPPI convention when my phone rang. The conversation went something like this: “Hi Ned my name is Jon and I’m getting married this summer and Heather and I love your work and we’d like to know when you’re available.” My reply, “Huh?” Ok – maybe not so clueless, but close. I can honestly say, as a photographer, there is no greater compliment than to have a couple say they are going to pick their wedding date depending on the dates I had open! How cool is that? Jon and Heather had decided to celebrate their wedding in the backyard of their new home; their first home together. I’m not certain you can get more personal and fitting than that. What made the day even more special to me is that only two months before, I photographed Heather’s sister and new brother-in-law, Stasia and Pete’s wedding. I felt like I already knew everyone.

Funny to watch Heather get ready with Stasia and their mom helping.  Only this time the roles were reversed.

This was one of my favorite moments of the day.  Heather almost started to cry as she looked at herself for the first time in her dress.  Stasia was the calming influence in the back telling her to “breathe.”

Love this catch of the flower girl heading downstairs.

My assistant extraordinaire for the day – Don from Don Mamone Photography caught this great shot right before the flower girl and ring bearer headed into the church.

Heather just looks radiant coming down the isle.

The happy bride!

I love peonies & roses. They photograph so well.  I think this floral arrangement on the cake just made it stunning.

In one of my favorite moments from the season – as we started to head out to take some couple shots, I saw an ice cream truck coming down the street.  I thought – how cool is it that they have an ice cream truck that drives right by their house every day?  I had to get them in it!  Flagged the guy down, and he couldn’t have been nicer.

They even made a sale!

Of course Heather had to ring the bell!

We finally got out of the truck and managed to get away to make use of the excellent light.

A few from the reception:

This one just felt like a fitting way to wrap up the day.  These two were just so much fun!

Michele Cyr (Mother of the bride) - Ned: That traffic snarl you ran into did not, in any way, have an effect on your ability to capture the beauty of the day for Jon and Heather’s wedding :-)!! The intimate setting, the jovial crowd, and the happiness of the bride and groom, are visible in all of your photographs. You have provided such a memorable, “picturesque” day for them. Another job well done!
