Erika & Nick – A Peabody Essex Museum Wedding

My first wedding this June was a scortcher but I couldn’t have had two better people to share it with.  It takes all of about thirty seconds around Erika and Nick to understand why they’re such a great match.  It was hard not to get wrapped up in how positively thrilled Erika was to be marrying her best friend.  She was glowing the entire day despite the heat.  The couple got ready at the Hawthorn Hotel in Salem, MA (which is where I got married)!  That’s where I joined them.  I was joined by my good friend Mark Davidson who helped me out for the day.  The ceremony and reception took place at one of my all-time favorite venues: The Peabody Essex Museum – AND gave me a chance to work with Natalia Laskaris (coordinator extraordinaire) again.

We all relished the A/C at the Hawthorne.  Erika getting her makeup finished:

Erika’s sister and Maid of Honor:

I just loved this moment as Erika’s mother helped her into her gown and jewelry.

We had a few moments for portraits before we headed outside to brave the heat for a first look.

We found a nice shot in the shade where the two could see each other for the first time.

Then we slipped out behind the Phillips Library two take some portraits of the two of them together.

How cute is this moment?  Erika’s father sees her for the first time.  I love this family!

After braving the heat for portraits, we headed inside to the East India Marine Hall for the ceremony.

One of the fantastic things about having a 2nd photographer is that we can think through different angles.  I was able to have Mark grab this great shot, while I stayed in the aisle to shoot the more traditional shots.

Such a stunning spot.

The reception took place in the main atrium.  Love the pops of color:

The couple makes their way to the cocktail hour.

One little practice of the first dance before they greet their guests:

An emotional first dance.

I had Mark station himself up in the balcony to get a long exposure of the Hora – only problem is the giant 6’4″ photographer down in the mix!

A lovely dance with her father:

Thank you so much to Erika and Nick for allowing me to share such a special day!  Such fantastic families and friends!  Thanks to Mark Davidson, Natalia Laskaris and Paula Marrero as well!  Check out the slideshow below to see more!
